Bogotá, 28 April. The Comprehensive Rehabilitation Centre of Colombia – CIREC has been officially accredited by the Comprehensive Action against Antipersonnel Mines Group (AICMA) of the Office of the Presidential Commissioner for Peace, with technical support from UNICEF, to deliver Mine Risk Education (MRE) activities in emergency situations, and authorised to implement the MRE model in educational settings.
This recognition, valid for two years, confirms the quality and impact of the work CIREC Foundation has carried out over the years in territories affected by the armed conflict and by the presence of antipersonnel mines. The certification positions the organisation as a key player in the national strategy for comprehensive action against mines, allowing it to extend its coverage in rural, hard-to-reach and highly vulnerable areas.
“This accreditation reaffirms our commitment to life, peace and the rebuilding of the social fabric in the regions hardest hit by violence. It is another step towards continuing to heal lives with science, heart and inclusion”, said Daniel Gómez Perico, executive director of CIREC Foundation.
Thanks to this achievement, the organisation will be able to strengthen its work preventing accidents involving explosive devices, train community leaders in safe practices and continue developing comprehensive projects in rehabilitation, psychosocial care and the inclusion of victims.
The certification also requires CIREC Foundation to maintain high quality standards, submitting regular reports, taking part in technical review processes and demonstrating continuous improvement in its processes.
