Brigade in Guainía: continuity, training and delivery of devices in the region

In partnership with the Governor's Office of Guainía, CIREC Foundation returned to the department in February 2026 to deliver on the commitments made during the visit in September 2025, consolidating a comprehensive rehabilitation intervention.

The partnership brought together technical, financial and human capacity to deliver three components: an assessment brigade, knowledge transfer through the ENTRÉNATE programme, and delivery of custom-made devices.

During the first visit, 56 assessments were carried out with people with physical disabilities living in vulnerable circumstances. Following clinical analysis and personalised prescription by the medical and scientific team, 53 mobility solutions were delivered between 9 and 12 February, including prostheses, orthoses, wheelchairs, hearing aids and other specialised aids.

The programme also included psychosocial support and a training component that enabled the delivery of 80 kits and the certification of 40 caregivers in the fundamentals of basic physical rehabilitation, covering physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and the creation of low-cost aids for daily living activities.

This joint effort not only strengthened the independence and quality of life of the families involved, but also paves the way for new missions to expand coverage across rural Colombia.
